Denzil Griffiths is the Managing Partner of WiseHeads Executive Mentors, with many years’ experience as a CEO and Company Director, now helping others by mentoring and coaching business executives and professionals, from middle-managers to Company Directors, in a wide variety of industries.
He was also the Executive Chairman of Northern Territory Oil Limited (an oil producer in Texas and explorer in the Northern Territory) for six years until September 2011. He stood down on the completion of a strongly supported share buyback after he had successfully negotiated the sale of the Company’s Georgina Basin (Northern Territory) interests to listed Canadian oil explorer PetroFrontier Corporation.
He earlier chaired The Centre for Molecular Biology and Medicine based in Melbourne.
Denzil also chairs three Member Syndicates for the CEO Institute. He has undertaken mentoring assignments with senior executives for Lee Hecht Harrison, a major global outplacement and career management firm and consulted to the Australian Institute of Company Directors on Director and Board Development.
He is also the independent member of VicRoads RANDL Project Board, a $150m project to transform Victoria’s Registration and Licensing systems.
Denzil has substantial CEO and Board experience, gained over 30 years in a wide range of business and government settings, specialising in turn-around situations.
He has been CEO of a variety of organisations – from start-ups to one of Australia’s largest superannuation funds. He was the inaugural Commissioner of State Revenue in Victoria.
His experience as a Company Director includes 16 years with a bank (Deputy Chairman and Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee for 6 years).
He is the author of The Living Leadership Handbook – 37 Indispensable Lessons for Mastering Leadership (available for free download from this site), has written numerous articles on leadership and management and speaks on those subjects.
He was awarded an Australia Day Medal in 1990 for services to tourism and aviation.
He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and CPA Australia, and a Life Member of the Stanford Graduate Business School Alumni Association.
